Hybris Platform Stabilisation at LK Bennett

Hybris Platform Stabilisation at LK Bennett

Stopped a fashion retailer losing sales to traffic spikes by stabilising its SAP Hybris eCommerce platform.

LK Bennett, the British fashion and footwear brand, was losing sales because its SAP Hybris eCommerce platform couldn’t cope with sudden surges in traffic. Media coverage could drive huge spikes in visitors, and at exactly the moments demand peaked, the site became unstable or unavailable.

I was engaged to diagnose the causes of the instability and make the platform resilient under peak load.

I reviewed the platform’s architecture, configuration and infrastructure, identifying the bottlenecks that caused it to fail under pressure, along with problems in the checkout that were costing completed orders. From this I produced a prioritised set of recommended changes and worked with LK Bennett’s team and partners to implement them.

After the changes, the platform stayed stable through later traffic spikes, so featured stock sold out instead of demand being lost to downtime. Combined with the checkout fixes, online conversion more than tripled, rising from 0.49% to 1.5%.
