CTO at TopThis

As CTO I am responsible for all development including backend system architecture (AWS), iOS app development and Project Management using Jira. I work closely with the Product Owner to determine our roadmap and prioritise bug fixes.

TopThis prototype was originally built as a Progressive Web App however this lacked the performance desired.

The existing team handed over the project to the core team from DanceFight who were tasked with building native apps for TopThis using their experience gained from DanceFight

TopThis

TopThis is a competition platform for talent. Users can upload or record video of themselves singing, dancing, rapping or playing music. These videos are automatically entered into regular leader boards ranked by stars given by other users.

Regular sponsored leaderboards and tournaments with cash prizes are also planned.

Technical Overview

TopThis front is comprised of native mobile apps (iOS and Android) and a Samsung TV app. There is also a simple website providing a landing page for non app users.

The backend is primarily AWS, utilising S3, Lambda, MediaConvert, Cognito and App Runner. Database is Mongo DB. We also run some bare metal servers provided by Hetzner for cost effective AI compute power.
